Audio Visual Techniques
Dennis Falconer from Audio Visual Techniques quickly caught the vision for this project when it was first proposed to him. He even agreed to underwrite the production costs before the Rotary Clubs had even been approached. Dennis enjoyed working with his son Thomas, who is a Year 13 student at Western Heights High School. About 8 students from WHHS, RBHS, JPC began work at AVT in Te Ngae Road on Friday at 11:00am - taking a day off school getting the gear ready for transport. What an unbelievably good work experience opportunity for these students!
RGHS were using The Arena up to 3:15pm on Friday. Then the carpet floor was layed and the stage was built and the team from AVT arrived shortly after 5:15pm.
They didn't go home until the lights, sound and everything was up and working - which was after midnight. Dennis did pause long enough to enjoy a quiet birthday glass of wine. Happy Birthday Dennis!. The security guard who came after midnight announced he would be there the following night as one of his sons was performing.
Dennis was back at about 9:00am the next morning, preparing for the sound checks with each of the performers starting at 1:00pm. The production began on time at 7:00pm and after everyone went home, Dennis' team worked til well after midnight completing the take-down. Awesome Dennis! (Dennis is of course married to head judge Evelyn and amongst other things does the production for Off Broadway).
Thomas Falconer would like to get an Interact Club up and running at WHHS this year. If you are interested, contact him. |
