Past Presidents Corner - Gone but not forgotton.At "changeover" in July, the new Interact President Shannon Stewart officially took on her new role for the next 12 months and Rachel Hoyle became the Immediate Past President. Rachel's role is to assist and support Shannon for the rest of the year, then it will be up to Shannon in 2010 get the club rolling again in the new school year. Henry Van Twuiver, Youth Director of the Rotary Club of Rotorua Lakes and Robert Lee, District Chair of Interact attended changeover and presented the club with its own Presidential Chain of Office. The chain records the names of each of the presidents and is a tradition also maintained by Rotary Clubs. For example, The Rotary Club of Rotorua was chartered in 1927 and their Presidential Chain bears the name of each and every Rotary President since. It is hoped that the Presidential Chain will feature at future High School reunions and will certainly have some stories to tell. It is a good reminder that we all have but a brief moment in which to shine, so shine.
